Although I went for brunch, Miss Ada is an amazing Mediterranean restaurants that would be good for any meal! They have an outdoor backyard, indoor seating, and sidewalk tables, as well as a healthy mix of shared small plates and entrees to choose from.

I loved their bloody mary (warning - the harissa one is extremely spicy!), the labneh, whipped ricotta, malawach, and hummus, although you really can’t go wrong here!

Rule of Thirds in Brooklyn is the cutest Japanese restaurant in a quiet area of Greenpoint. They have spacious backyard patio seating, private cabin dining, and super cute indoor dining available. The Japanese soufflé pancake, smashed potato, and silken tofu were all amazing. (Note that the pancake can easily feed two people.)

chelsea / georgian / $$

I love Georgian food, and have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. Little did I know that their brunch would be outstanding, or that they have the cutest, plant-filled back garden that will transport you to a leafy oasis far outside Manhattan. Since sweet vs. savory is the biggest brunch dilemma, my roommate and I split the french toast and baked eggs with walnut sauce. The french toast is served with homemade fig preserves and sour cream and is some of the best french toast I’ve ever eaten. We also got freshly brewed mint tea (complete with fresh sprigs of mint), that completed the meal.

This cute eatery (located at 19 Cleveland), offers delicious Israeli cuisine at reasonable prices. Their extensive and diverse menu features dishes like a sabich croissant sandwich, Tel-Avivian avocado toast (their spin on the brunch classic), and a spicy falafel burger, among other mouthwatering options. I have a hard time choosing what to order every time I go as everything looks (and is) worth trying.

soho / mediterranean / $$

Painted a cheery, bright, Mediterranean blue on the outside, Shuka has three spacious interior rooms with different decor. The rear covered indoor garden is my favorite, and has lanterns hanging from the ceiling as well as tropical floral wallpaper on the walls. A perfect place for a large group, Shuka is one of my favorite brunch spots in the city.

soho + williamsburg / israeli / $

This tiny Israeli eatery is a popular brunch place in SoHo and Williamsburg. During pre-covid times there were long lines every weekend to snag a table inside. Luckily, they now take reservations through Resy. Their menu features brunch favorites like shakshuka and omelettes as well as Mediterranean specialties like a lamb burger, Israeli breakfast special (with assorted cheeses and dips and Israeli salad), and eggs cooked in tahini sauce over a skillet.

new american / williamsburg / $$

This new restaurant in Williamsburg is a must-visit for sure. Its vast and lush back garden is a hidden oasis. The menu is interesting and delicious - I’m still thinking about the sweet corn cakes that I got for brunch that came along with house cured arctic char, beet tzatziki, and a pickled egg! While the service was pretty inattentive, the atmosphere and food made up for it.

I came to Kimika specifically to try their matcha motchi French toast and it was absolutely amazing! Seriously one of the best French toast I’ve ever had, and I still can’t get over it. It comes with vanilla custard, condensed milk, and citron syrup, but is not too sweet! This Asian-owned Japanese-Italian restaurant in Nolita is the sister restaurant of Wayla and worth trying. We also got the crispy potatoes with mentaiko Mayo (delicious!) and one of the pasta dishes (more on that to come!)
